To solve the expression in order, enter it in the PEMDAS or order of operations calculator.

Table of Contents:

The order of operations calculator has great use in maths. It solves the arithmetic operations according to the PEMDAS rule. Also, the user can see the step-by-step solution.

It is an order or sequence in which mathematical expressions should be solved. It goes alternatively with the names BEDMAS and BODMAS.

It stands for:

(**P**arentheses (), **E**xponent ^, **M**ultiplication, **D**ivision, **A**ddition +, **S**ubtraction - )

This sequence starts from the left and ends on right. Firstly, equations or expressions in brackets are solved, and so on.

One thing that should be kept in mind is that multiplication and division are solved side by side. This is the reason, we see division before multiplication in BODMAS.

Similarly, addition and subtraction are solved side by side, there are no preferences in them.

**Example:**

Solve (2-1)5 - 2 + 4.

**Note**: Use PEMDAS.

*Solution:*

**Step 1: **Solve the parenthesis.

= (2-1)

= 1

**Step 2:** Now solve multiplication And division.

= 15 - 2 + 4

= 5 -2 + 4

**Step 3:** At the end, solve + and -.

= 5 -2 + 4

= 3 + 4

**= 7**

**Example **2:

Solve the expression “10 / 2 × (9+2)” using order of operations.

*Solution:*

**Step 1: **Solve the parenthesis.

= 10 / 2 × (9+2)

= 10 / 2 × 11

**Step 2:** Now solve multiplication And division.

= 10 / 2 × 11

= 5 × 11

**= 55**
